Select HIVMAI physicians track clinical data, including observational data of a select cohort of patients. The data consists of commonly understood "markers" of disease progression like CD4 counts and viral load as well as India-specific co-factors and co-morbidities. Moreover, the treatment protocols of the patients reflect India-specific realities like cost factors and available generic drugs.

Our hypothesis is that, over time, the clinical data will reveal patterns of disease progression unique to patients in India, and even specific regions of India. These patterns will suggest research questions which will, in turn, inform clinical trial opportunities and design.
